Lately Facebook has been slapped a 5 billion dollars fine for mishandling their users data during the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

And as a result, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has obliged them to put new policies to protect their users’ data and to apply these policies also on Instagram and Whatsapp. Facebook has also been obliged to create a privacy committee with independent board members to monitor their privacy related decisions.

Some apps and websites send Facebook information about about their users activity to be able to suggest them subjects related to their interests which can be a double edged sword.

So that, the social media giant has added a new tool that will allow its users to control data flow by seeing a summary of the apps and websites that send Facebook their activity information and also to be able to clear these information from their accounts if they want to.

Facebook’s chief privacy officer Erin Egan stated that this step comes in the scope of giving Facebook users more transparency and control on their privacy.
